At Good Business Colorado, our board members are more than advisors, they're small business owners, advocates, and connectors who bring real-world experience to everything we do. In this series, we're sitting down with some of the people shaping GBC's direction to learn what drives them, what they're hoping to build for Colorado's small business community, and a little bit about who they are outside of the workspace.

Meet Brian Loma, founder of Cut the Plastic EMS. Brian brings a strong environmental conscience to his work with GBC, motivated by to help carry forward GBC's commitment to environmental responsibility.

Read on to hear his thoughts on what he hopes to see for small business owners in the years ahead, and what might surprise you about him.

1. What drew you to join our board, and why does this work matter to you personally?

I was drawn to join the advisory board because Good Business Colorado values toward environmental responsibility. When our founding executive director moved to other things, I wanted to be involved to ensure those priorities were maintained by the org.

2. What do you hope to see for small business owners, in the next few years?

I look forward to seeing small business owners work on legislative policy issues to support their needs, ensuring resources stay in communities and don't get consumed by multinational corporations.

3. Outside of board work, what's something people might be surprised to learn about you?

I left a career with a Fortune 200 company because of plastics pollution in our great lakes and oceans.
