Chaffee County Learning Tour - November 21st


Colorado is a fast-growing state, with education and infrastructure issues greatly impacting the business community. Last year, the Colorado legislature passed House Bill 1258, which referred Proposition CC to the voters. This educational roundtable happy hour discussion will provide an opportunity to learn more about the proposition, and how it could impact Colorado’s investments in education, roads, bridges, and transit. Additionally, event attendees will be able to ask questions about Proposition CC directly to the Colorado Speaker of the House, KC Becker. Refreshments will be provided, please bring a friend!

The Colorado Department of Labor & Employment (CDLE) is currently determining whether to expand the categories of workers covered by the CO Minimum Wage Order and whether to set a minimum salary for overtime exemptions. This lunch study session will provide an opportunity to understand:

  • Current federal law and Colorado law, and the intersections for Colorado businesses

  • Misclassification issues that arise due to lack of clarity

  • CDLE’s process to seek input regarding potential Colorado rule revision

  • The pros and cons of potential changes

  • How your business voice can help shape the conversation
