Small Business Advocates in the CO General Assembly: Q & A with Rep. Colin Larson (R- House District 22) and Rep. Alex Valdez (D-House District 5)

This webinar co-sponsored by The Bell Policy Center, Best for Colorado, Colorado Black Chamber of Commerce, Center for Community Wealth Building, Good Business Colorado, Rocky Mountain Micro Finance Institute, and Small Business Majority.

The COVID-19 pandemic has not only disrupted the economy, social structures, and healthcare systems, but it has also thwarted the ability for the Colorado legislative session to safely convene. As legislators will attempt to continue their vital work in mid-May, they will be confronted with new challenges: budget deficits and unexpected emergency assistance needs. In this webinar, participants will be able to hear directly from two small business owners who also serve in Colorado’s legislature. As a successful small business owner in South Jefferson County and a State Representative since 2019, Rep. Larson started his coffee shop businesses from the ground up and currently faces the same challenges that business owners across the state are experiencing. Rep. Valdez is also a small business owner who started up a solar business out of a co-working space in Denver’s Rino neighborhood. As a businessperson, and through community service, Rep. Valdez is committed to helping others achieve their full potential. Both Representatives are currently focused on championing the needs of small businesses recovering from COVID. In this webinar, they will provide an overview of the current Colorado legislative landscape, their strategies for helping small businesses succeed, and they will listen to your needs and challenges. Through a moderated chat box, participants will be able to ask them questions about next steps in the recovery process.
