Happy Black History Month
It's disturbing how the black community has made significant contributions that often go unnoticed. Did you know the theme for this year, as determined by the Association for the Study of African American Life and History is "African Americans and the Arts"?. It seems especially fitting since there is increasing awareness that country music was initially pioneered by Black Americans, among numerous other music genres.
Dedicate time today to explore and learn about the history of Black individuals in America and then reflect on how their influence extends to even the smallest aspects of your daily routines - like the music you listen.
We invite you to join us in discovering ways to engage in reparative actions, acknowledging and reflecting on our privilege, and standing in solidarity with the Black community.
For example, lean in to learning how reparations go far beyond money. It includes learning more about the history written by people in this community. It also includes paying respect to the community, learning about ways you can show up and giving back to that community.
